The development team at Infinity Ward announces that it is introducing a new type of enemy, giant alien spiders, in the Extinction mode for Call of Duty: Ghosts, in order to increase the variety of the experience.

The official Twitter account of the company states, "Afraid of spiders? RT if you're ready for a new enemy in #Extinction Nightfall http://twitpic.com/ds27rw."

No more details on the new enemy type have yet been offered.

Call of Duty: Ghosts is the most recent title in the long running first person shooter franchise and Infinity Ward needs to deliver more content for it in order to keep it interesting in the long term.

Rumors suggest that a new Onslaught DLC is set to be released on January 28.

Sales of the most recent Call of Duty have been lower than those of Black Ops 2, which might signal long term challenges for the series and for publisher Activision.
