The development team at Infinity Ward and publisher Activision might have tweaked the names of multiplayer games modes for Call of Duty: Ghosts for April Fools, but the two companies have returned to more serious matters by launching a new video for the upcoming Devastation downloadable content for the shooter.

The footage features the Extinction mode and sets up the premise of the new episode in the story, which will see the Quick Reaction Force moving to investigate reports about a ghost ship that has been found in the middle of the Pacific ocean.

The team explains that, "They will find new weapons and items to aid their fight against the alien horde. But new terrors are also abound, such as the insidious wall-crawling 'Seeder' and the skyscraper-sized 'Kraken'. The epic four-part Extinction series returns with the all-new Episode 2: Mayday!"

Devastation is the second DLC pack for Call of Duty: Ghosts and will be launched on the Xbox Live service from Microsoft on April 3, which means that gamers on other platforms should be able to access it in about one month.

The new package for the first-person shooter also includes new game maps for players to master and a new weapon to use in multiplayer.
