Call of Duty: Finest Hour is a video game developed by Spark Unlimited and released by Activision Publishing. It
was created for the PlayStation 2 console from Sony, the Game Cube and the Xbox from Microsoft. It is classed as a war shooter played from a third person perspective with sequences in first person view. There is a strong historical aspect evident in the game, with several real world battles simulated.

The Call of Duty series was initially released on the PC and the way it managed to capture the feel of war while delivering competent first person shooter gameplay impressed critics and gamers. The series was a success and console versions were quickly planned. Call of Duty: Finest Hour is the first in the series to be released on gaming devices.

There are three different fronts of the World War II that are simulated in the game and the story is told from the point of view of three different soldiers, a British, an American and a Russian. You have to play through each section of the game in succession, as a new mission is unlocked only once you complete the one before it. The game is heavily scripted, with some of the larger operations depicted in minute details and with the player often being relegated to a minor role on the battlefield as the great clash happens all around him. The production values of the title are very high, with great music and brilliant voice acting.

GAMEPLAY HINTS

Into The Heartland: Hidden weapons

When you first start the mission you are told to progress across the bridge. However, do not go there yet. Turn around and go back into the ditch you were in during the intermission sequence. Then, go up the ditch towards the tank which fires the machine gun. In front of the tank is a health pack, Thompson, and BAR. Go behind the tank to find a .30 caliber machinegun and a M1 Grand.

When you start the mission, there is a tank behind you. Go behind it to find a Browning .30 cal with 300 reserve rounds.

The Flag Must Fall: MG42 machine gun

Go out of the building that you started at. Go up the hill outside, then go into the trench on your left until you reach a hill. Turn right, clear out the pillbox, then get out of the pillbox and go straight. Clear out the next pillbox. Go back out of the trench and turn to the right. There will be another trench here. Do not go into it yet. Pass it, turn right, and go downhill into another trench. There should be a path leading left as you enter the trench. Follow it and you will find the MG42, which is a machine gun that you can carry that is just like the stationary guns that were shooting you earlier.

Charge the big bunker on the top of the hill before you clear out the other bunkers. Then, clear out some trenches and the bunker. Next, lower the Nazi flag and you are done.
