Call of Duty: Finest Hour is a video game developed by Spark Unlimited and published by Activision Publishing. The
game was created for the PlayStation 2 console from Sony, the Game Cube and the Xbox from Microsoft. It is classed as a war shooter played from a third person perspective with sequences in first person view. There is a strong historical aspect evident in the game, with several real world battles simulated.
The Call of Duty series was initially released on the PC and the way it managed to capture the feel of war while delivering competent first person shooter gameplay impressed critics and gamers. The series was a success and console versions were quickly planned. Call of Duty: Finest Hour is the first of the Call of Duty games that was released on gaming consoles.
There are three different fronts of the World War II that are simulated in the game and the story is told from the point of view of three different soldiers, a British, an American and a Russian. You have to play through each section of the game in succession, as a new mission is unlocked only once you complete the one before it. The game is heavily scripted, with some of the larger operations depicted in minute details and with the player often being relegated to a minor role on the battlefield as the great clash happens all around him. The production values of the title are very high, with great music and brilliant voice acting.
GAMEPLAY HINTS
Depot Saboteurs: Avoiding machine gunners
Get to the part when you have to blow up the fuel reserves (where the barrels of oil are found). Instead of running around placing C4 chargers and getting hit by the machine guns, just throw your grenades by the oil reserves. Sticky bombs work the best. By doing this, there will be no need to try to kill the machine gunners.
First City To Fall: Extra health
When you start the American campaign's First City To Fall mission and Church says "Where are you going? Stay behind the tanks!", go diagonally to the left of the tank. Stay beside the first tank on the left. When it starts to turn, go straight to the barrier of rubble. Turn right and go into a building with no doors that seems to be on fire. Do not go into the fire. Go about halfway to the fire and look down. On the right should be a Medical Pack.
