The Call of Duty Endowment, an initiative from video games publisher Activision Blizzard designed to deliver military-oriented charitable work on behalf of the well-known brand, has announced that it is starting a Memorial Day fundraiser, which will donate all the money to the Hire Heroes initiative.
The Endowment encourages all those who played
Call of Duty to become a fan of the initative on Facebook and then donate their status in order to honor the name of a current military man and or of a veteran.
For every man who does so, the Call of Duty Endowment will donate another dollar to its Hire Heroes grant, which was initially set at 20,000 dollars.
The fundraiser is live until midnight Pacific Daylight Time in the United States and Activision Blizzard says that it would like fans of the Call of Duty franchise to help the grant reach the 50,000 dollars mark.
Hire Heroes is a United States organization that aims to help veterans that have fought in Operation Iraqi Freedom or in Operation Enduring Freedom to find work after they come back home, focusing extra attention on those who have been injured or are disabled.
The Call of Duty Endowment has only existed since 2009 when unemployment rates for veterans, especially male ones, have gone over 20 percent.
A statement from Bobby Kotick, who is the chief executive officer of Activision Blizzard, has offered a statement that says, “Last year's Memorial Day campaign was a huge success, and Hire Heroes USA has shown amazing results with their previous funding from the Call of Duty Endowment. We believe that this campaign can be an easy way for the public to volunteer to help veterans, honor those who served, and guide more employers to hiring veterans.”
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is set to be launched on November 8 of this year.
