Call of Duty: Black Ops, one of the biggest video games to appear at the end of the year, will officially feature a co-operative multiplayer mode with zombies in it, the same that was featured on Treyarch's previous Call of Duty: World at War title.

The co-op mode was rumored for quite some time, but not until recently was it actually backed up by some proof.

A Treyarch executive teased about an upcoming announcement about the multiplayer mode last week, while the official Brady Games strategy guide had information about a Zombie co-operative mode.

Now, Treyarch and Activision, the developer and publisher of Call of Duty: Black Ops, have officially revealed that the title will feature a co-op Zombie mode, besides all of its previously revealed multiplayer modes.

"Zombies have been such a hit with our community that we were committed to bringing brand new zombie experiences to Call of Duty: Black Ops," said Treyarch Studio Head, Mark Lamia in the announcement.

"We've taken extra special care to retain the essential ingredients of our Zombie game, and have also crafted a nice surprise for the fans."

Besides the multiplayer mode featured in World at War, the popular zombie killing mode was also turned into a best selling iPhone app, titled, what else, Call of Duty: World at War Zombies.

Speaking of that, a new map for the app will be launched today, in order to celebrate the announcement.

The new mode will no doubt place players in the same survival situation, in a remote location and will require them to shoot as many waves of zombies as possible before getting killed by the undead horde.

Until Black Ops will appear, on November 9, those that want to kill zombies can already do that in Dead Rising 2, as well as in the upcoming Undead Nightmare DLC pack for Red Dead Redemption.
