The development team at Treyarch and publisher Activision have recently confirmed that they are working on a new title called Call of Duty: Black Ops III and that they are planning to offer a full reveal for the experience on April 26.

Now, after the teaser trailer was leaked earlier in the day, the cover art for the video game was released into the wild by sources close to the development process.

The picture emphasizes the III that was already a big part of the image for the new Call of Duty title, and it shows a character who carries two guns and tech which seems to suggest that at least a bit of the action will take place in the near future.

The official Activision announcement also includes a description of Black Ops III which states that the title will include a classic campaign, multiplayer, and a zombie mode, and that it aims to be the most ambitious entry in the franchise so far.

The publisher adds, "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 deploys players into a dark, twisted future where a new breed of Black Ops soldiers emerges and the lines are blurred between our humanity and the technology we created to stay ahead, in a world where cutting-edge military robotics define warfare."

More leaks might reveal details about the title before the April 26 official reveal date.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III aims for innovation

The game is the first one in the series which is being created by a three-year development schedule, which should translate into more innovation and better gameplay for fans.

The wording of the Activision announcement also makes it clear that Call of Duty: Black Ops III is created with the Xbox One, the PC, and the PlayStation 4 in mind.

Treyarch has suggested that it will try to introduce a new narrative approach for the series, although it's unclear how it will be connected to previous entries.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare has managed to attract a lot of praise for the way the exo-skeleton has transformed the multiplayer experience.

It will be interesting to see how the Treyarch team will be able to use the same ideas and put a unique twist on them.
