Call of Duty: Black Ops, with the release of the upcoming Escalation downloadable content pack, will be on the receiving end of a very special level for its cooperative Zombies mode, which will put players in the shoes of four celebrities, including Danny Trejo, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Robert Englund and Michael Rooker.

Call of Duty: Black Ops' Zombies mode was really out of the ordinary, as the original cooperative level, as well as the one in the First Strike DLC, allowed users to play as famous political leaders like John F. Kennedy, Fidel Castro or Richard Nixon and kill the hordes of undead.

The second DLC for the game, the Escalation map pack, was revealed at the beginning of the month, with Treyarch, Black Ops' developer, and Activision, its publisher, showcasing the four new multiplayer maps, and saying that a special zombies scenario will also be included.

Now, as we're nearing the DLC's release on Xbox Live, the two companies have finally revealed the first actual details about the special Call of the Dead level.

According to the announcement made by the game's developer, the new level will see players step into the zombie-killing shoes of celebrities likes Danny Trejo (famous for his role in Machete), Sarah Michelle Gellar (of Buffy The Vampire Slayer fame), Robert Englund (famous for his role as Freddy Kruger in Nightmare on Elm Street) and Michael Rooker (from the recent The Walking Dead TV series).

The celebrity list doesn't stop here, as Treyarch says that the Call of the Dead scenario has been created in collaboration with famous zombie movie director George Romero, who will also appear as a boss fight towards the end of the scenario.

"This is Treyarch's tribute to the legendary George Romero, who truly defined the zombie genre and whose incredible work has been such an inspiration to our team." says Dave Anthony, Call of Duty: Black Ops' Director. "It was an absolute honor to work with such an amazing and talented cast whose passion and energy brought their characters instantly to life. Fans are going to love this."

The Call of the Dead level will see players stranded on a derelict ship in Siberia, and, as you can see in the video below, quite a few new things have been added, including executions and movie-themed special moves.

Call of Duty: Black Ops will get the Escalation DLC as a timed exclusive for the Xbox 360 on May 3, for 1200 MS Points ($15), and is expected to appear at the beginning of June for platforms like the PlayStation 3 or PC.
