Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 was officially revealed to the world yesterday and developer Treyarch has since started sharing more details about the game's performance across its three platforms - PC, PS4, and Xbox One - confirming that it runs best on PC and that it already reaches 60fps and 1080p on PS4. On the Xbox One, however, more time is needed to ensure great performance.

After a pretty lengthy wait, developer Treyarch and publisher Activision have confirmed to the world that the next title in the Call of Duty series is Black Ops 3. Yesterday, the game got its full-fledged reveal, alongside a gameplay trailer, a few stellar screenshots, and quite a lot of information that had already leaked before the weekend.

Black Ops 3 runs best on PC and emphasizes 60fps framerate

Even so, more and more new details are surfacing, and Gameswelt has some interesting information straight from Treyarch’s boss Mark Lamia regarding the performance of Black Ops 3 across its three platforms, i.e. the PC, the PS4, and the Xbox One.

First up, Lamia emphasizes that Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 runs best on the PC, although the studio's 300 employees want to ensure that the game runs as well as possible across all platforms. Seeing as how the PC can pump out more performance than the PS4 or Xbox One, the team won't shy away from exploiting all that power.

Across all platforms, the focus is to reach a 60fps framerate, in order to ensure the fast-paced flow of the series.

PS4 has 60fps and 1080p, while performance on Xbox One is unclear

On the PS4, this target is already achieved alongside a native resolution of 1080p, so owners of Sony's console can already enjoy a great experience with the first-person shooter.

In terms of performance on the Xbox One, Lamia declined to comment, saying only that more optimization is needed to ensure a 60fps framerate at an acceptable native resolution.

Considering there are quite a few months separating fans from the launch of the game on November 6, official performance figures aren't set in stone just yet.
