Valve and publisher Activision have announced that the multiplayer modes of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will be free-to-play on the Steam digital distribution service during the weekend and gamers will also be able to get the game with a 33 percent price cut.

Developer Treyarch has just delivered Revolution, the first downloadable content package for the title, introducing new maps and a new weapon for players to use.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 offers an intense multiplayer experience and has a very tight and competitive fan base, which has often been harsh to newcomers.

Valve is also offering Gratuitous Space Battles for free during the weekend and gamers will be able to pick the game up with a 75 percent price reduction.

Both offers will end on February 24 at 1 PM Pacific Standard Time.
