Developer Treyarch and publisher Activision announce that their shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is getting a double experience weekend from 10 AM Pacific Daylight Time on all platforms until the same hour on Monday.

The period will allow players to level up at an increased pace and will see many fans of the game return to multiplayer modes that they might have previously abandoned.

The official Twitter account of Treyarch states, "Double XP kicks off tomorrow at 10am/PDT (360,PS3/PC/WiiU) and runs through Monday 10am/PDT. What's that? You feel a sick day coming on?"

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is in the final months of its life cycle.

Infinity Ward and Activision are currently working on the next game in the series, Ghosts, which will be launched in the fall.
