Video game publisher Activision has confirmed that a version of the upcoming first-person shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will be launched on the Nintendo Wii U home console when it is released, between November 18 in North America and December 8 in Japan.

The Wii U GamePad includes a second screen that Black Ops 2 players will be able to use in order to look at multiplayer maps, call in score streaks or choose their loadouts.

When it comes to cooperative modes, that second player will use the GamePad screen in order to avoid a split screen situation.

Black Ops 2 will run at 50 frames per second on the Wii U and all the graphics effects seen on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 will also be present on the new Nintendo device.

The Nintendo Wii Remote and the Nunchuk will also be supported as control methods for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

Eric Hirshberg, who is the chief executive officer of Activision Publishing, told the audience during a Wii U presentation in New York that, “The integrated second screen of the GamePad creates new possibilities for how games can be played, and further reflects the innovation Nintendo has poured into the Wii U.”

He added, “We’re excited for our fans to experience the biggest franchises, like Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Skylanders Giants and Transformers Prime, in new ways made possible on Wii U.”

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will also include support for eSports on the Wii U via the League Play feature, allowing gamers to play a number of matches to get a rating and then pairing them with other players who have the same abilities in the game.

The multiplayer mode also includes: Challenges, Core & Party Game Modes, Custom Games, Combat Training, Theater Enhancements, Emblem Editor and Prestiging.
