Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is on track to conquer the title of biggest video game launch of 2014, and the first-person shooter from developer Sledgehammer Games and publisher Activision has managed to spend a second week at the top of the United Kingdom video game charts, despite strong challenges from both Assassin’s Cred Unity and Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

The title, which deals with a future conflict that involves exo-skeletons and futuristic weapons, has managed to perform well because it has a major fan base that’s very interested in multiplayer action and in long-term progression.

Sledgehammer Games has made a number of significant changes to the core gameplay, with improved mobility linked to the new suits and their various abilities designed to allow players to find their own play style and then improve their ability to surprise and take out opponents.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is set to get access to four major downloadable content packs, the first of which will be offered in 2015, and until then, gamers might get some patches designed to update some mechanics and eliminate bugs.

Second place in the United Kingdom chart, according to data from UKIE quoted by NeoGAF, belongs to Assassin’s Creed Unity, the open world title that takes gamers to Paris during the period of the French Revolution.

Since it was introduced, the title had significant problems with the frame rate and was plagued by bugs on all platforms, and although Ubisoft still has plenty of work to do in order to make the customer base content, sales still remain strong.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection, from 343 Industries and Microsoft, has managed to debut in third position in the UK despite the fact that it is only offered on the Xbox One home console and the companies linked to it are striving to eliminate persistent matchmaking problems.

The rest of the best

FIFA 15, which was launched in late September, continues to perform just behind the blockbusters of the fall in terms of sales and sits in fourth place for the week that ended on November 15.

Fifth place is at the moment occupied by another new entry, LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, which allows fans of the DC Universe a chance to take control of a wide range of playable superhero and supervillain characters.

In sixth, Ubisoft delivers Assassin’s Creed Rogue, which is only offered on the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360, while the PlayStation Edition of Minecraft is in seventh.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2015 from Konami lands in eighth, and the new expansion for World of Warcraft, Warlords of Draenor, is in ninth.

The United Kingdom top ten is closed down by Destiny from Activision.
