The fun must go on

It has been a while now that Call of Duty keeps fighting Halo 3 for the spot of most played multiplayer game over on Xbox 360 - with short interruptions from GTA IV, it's true, but nothing important. However, it is known that gamers tend to get bored pretty quickly of doing the same thing over and over again (unless, of course, they are casual players), so Infinity Ward has decided to bring in a host of four new multiplayer game modes to keep them busy.

Xbox Live will get the new modes following a successful testing that took place in July - Microsoft has approved them and we're going to see them pretty soon (no date is set, though).

The modes are pretty straightforward: Bare-bones Team Deathmatch comes first and it's like a regular TD game, except for the fact that here no kill streak rewards and no perks will available to be used; Multi-bomb Search and Destroy gives every player in the attacking team a bomb to plant (unlike the regular one bomb per team in the classic mode), thus making Call of Duty 4 an even more exciting title. The last two modes are even simpler - Hardcore Headquarters and Free-for-All, bringing increased damage and no HUDs.

As I said before, the moment when these four new modes go live is not set, but we do know one thing: playlists are now being tested internally at Infinity Ward, which is a great thing. According to the company's community manager, they will "flip the switch to make it available to everyone over Xbox LIVE / PSN. No download or anything is required. The playlist will update seamlessly the next time players get on once it's uploaded."

One thing does make me wonder though: they said nothing about the PC version of the game. Hopefully, this was just a little oversight that does not mean that PC users won't get the goodies.
