Everything is there except for the online multiplayer game modes

Last night, out of the blue, the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare demo was out. It didn't take us long to notice its presence on the Internet and so we rushed in making it available for free download as soon as possible. HERE's where you can get the playable demo of Activision's first-person shooter, and remember that this time around, you're going to be dealing with "modern warfare," literally, so forget about WWII. 'Twas about time someone brought a different war game to the market...

We've gathered a bunch of gameplay features and other stuff related to the game, which, although Infinity Ward and Activision have confirmed for the full game, go for the demo too. We've posted them below, so if you're new to the series, have a look:

First of all, gamers will benefit from authentic and advanced weaponry, from an available arsenal of more than 70 new and authentic weapons and gear from assault rifles with laser sites, claymore mines, .50 caliber sniper rifles, and M-249 SAW machine guns. There will also be accessories, such as night-vision goggles and ghillie suits, for maximum concealment.

In this game, you'll not only have to be a fast gunman, but you'll also have to coordinate assault and support, as you'll be playing the modern battle from the soldier to the satellite, where the need for air support is critical to success. You'll be enlisting yourself to fast-rope from tactical helicopters, ride in an armada of attack choppers, use jets to remove enemy strongholds and even engage hostiles from thousands of feet above the ground.

Being next-gen and all, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will of course deliver stunningly beautiful cinematics, but also a great sound experience. Visual effects include:

- realistic depth of field - rim-lighting - character self-shadowing - texture streaming - physics-enabled effects

Last, but not least, we're going to share a feature that, although not available with the upcoming demo, is surely something you want to look into, for when the full version of the game is out - that's right, online multiplayer.

As confirmed in the E3 fact sheet, multiplayer builds from the success of Call of Duty 2 delivering a persistent online experience for greater community interaction. Basically, players will have create-a-class options at their disposal, allowing them to customize gear that is best suited for play, to experience points enabling unlockables and perks, with matchmaking and leaderboards for the latest in tracking.

What, you're still reading? Oh for Christ's sake don't tell me you've missed the download link above. HERE it is again. Have fun!
