A brand new report has appeared online saying that Activision and Sledgehammer Games will reveal the 2014 Call of Duty game, codenamed Blacksmith, next month, keeping with established tradition for the first-person shooter series.

Call of Duty games have seen iterations from different major studios, usually with Infinity Ward and Treyarch alternating each year. Now, however, Activision has revealed that the series is on a three-year cycle and that Sledgehammer Games will join the rotation of main studios.

The new developer will release the 2014 edition of Call of Duty, which is currently codenamed Blacksmith.

According to a new report from MP1st, it seems the official reveal of the game will be made next month.

The website also highlights that previous games, like Call of Duty: Ghosts or Black Ops 2, were also revealed in May, so Activision might keep the tradition with the new title from Sledgehammer.

As of yet, Activision hasn't commented on this report, but some form of teaser campaign is bound to begin shortly, before the inevitable May reveal of the new title.

For now, it's unclear just what the new shooter will be, but you can expect something intriguing from Sledgehammer, which previously helped Infinity Ward complete Modern Warfare 3 many years ago.
