Aspyr Media has officially launched Call of Duty 2 and Call of Duty 3 for Mac gamers, complete with all the DLC available and featuring a special introductory price (25% off / 50% for GameAgent clients). You need a decently-specced Mac to run these games, so make sure to check the requirements list before you reach for your wallet.

Mac games publisher Aspyr makes the news official on the company’s blog, saying, “Great news for Call of Duty fans: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, as well as all accompanying DLC, are available for download today on the Mac from Aspyr!”

The base games (without DLC) are offered with a 25% discount, and if you’re a GameAgent member you get 50% off.

The titles are also downloadable through Steam and support Steam Play, meaning the multiplayer experience is cross-platform and that you can buy the games once and then download them for free again if you switch platforms.

Aspyr explains: “Both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare games are available as Steam Play titles, meaning anyone that purchases the game on the Mac will also have access to the game on Windows PC (and vice versa). Further, both games feature cross-platform multiplayer, so Mac players will be able to play against (and attempt to dominate) their Windows PC friends.”

In order to run any of the two CoD games, make sure your Mac has at least an Intel i3 (Dual-Core) processor running at 2.2GHz, 4 GB RAM, 13 GB disk space, and is running OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 or later. Video-wise, you need Radeon HD 4850, NVidia Geforce 640M, or Intel Iris with 512 MB VRAM.

As usual, some video chipsets are not supported for Mac gamers. These include ATI RADEON HD 2000 Series, ATI RADEON HD 6490M, 6630M, 3870, NVIDIA 9000 Series, NVIDIA 320M, 330M, and Intel HD 3000, 4000, 5000 series.

Be sure to check out the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Multiplayer Survival Guide for tips on getting the best multiplayer experience out of your game.

According to Aspyr, you should skim through the guide even if you are an experienced Call of Duty player: “These additions to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series are unique enough that not all your skills will transfer over,” says the company.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 sells for $19.99/€17.99/£13.99 and the two available DLCs sell for $14.99/€11.99/£10.99 each. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 goes for $39.99/€36.99/£29.99 and the four subsequent DLCs cost $14.99/€11.99/£10.99 each.
