Call of Duty 2: Big Red One is a video game developed by Treyarch and Frey Matter and released by Activision

Publishing. It was created for the PlayStation 2 console from Sony, the Game Cube and the Xbox from Microsoft and launched in 2005. It is classed as a war shooter played from a third person perspective with sequences played in first person view. There is a strong historical aspect evident in the game, with several real world battles simulated.

The Call of Duty series was initially released on the PC and the way it managed to capture the feel of war while delivering competent first person shooter gameplay impressed critics and gamers. The series was a success and console versions were quickly planned. Call of Duty 2: Big Red One is one of the Call of Duty games released on gaming consoles.

The game tells the story of a new recruit who gets into the Big Red One infantry division, one of the most celebrated units in the American Army. You have to play through each section of the game in succession, as a new mission is unlocked only once you complete the one before it. The game is heavily scripted, with some of the larger operations depicted in minute details and with the player often being relegated to a minor role on the battlefield as the great clash happens all around him. The production values of the title are very high, with great music and brilliant voice acting.
