Call of Duty 2: Big Red One is a video game developed by Treyarch and Frey Matter and released by Activision Publishing. It was
created for the PlayStation 2 console from Sony, the Game Cube and the Xbox from Microsoft. It was launched in 2005. It is classed as a war shooter played from a third person perspective with sequences played in first person view. There is a strong historical aspect evident in the game, with several real world battles simulated.

The Call of Duty series was initially released on the PC and the way it managed to capture the feel of war while delivering competent first person shooter gameplay impressed critics and gamers. The series was a success and console versions were quickly planned. Call of Duty 2: Big Red One is one of the Call of Duty titles released on gaming consoles.

The game tells the story of a new recruit who gets into the Big Red One infantry division, one of the most celebrated units in the American Army. You have to play through each section of the game in succession, as a new mission is unlocked only once you complete the one before it. The game is heavily scripted, with some of the larger operations depicted in minute details and with the player often being relegated to a minor role on the battlefield as the great clash happens all around him. The production values of the title are very high, with great music and brilliant voice acting.

GAMEPLAY HINTS

Machine guns

When manning a machine gun, a short six or seven round burst works best against enemies. If a lot of enemies get close, lie prone and throw a grenade at them. Then, quickly get back on the machine gun.

Saving ammunition

Get a bolt-action rifle (with five shots) without a scope. Zoom in and shoot at the upper torso and higher. It should only require one round to kill them. This works well if you cannot get a good shot.

When you have a machine gun, do not waste the ammo on two or three targets. Use it when you are facing a large number of enemies. Use the rifle first. Try to pick up ammo from the Americans who have died. For example, there sometimes is a soldier who is not part of your squad. Stay with him, and when he dies take his ammo.

Avoiding more attacks

Sometimes enemies will just keep coming unless you move up. Keep moving forward to cover when you are not under fire.
