The solar industry in the state of California in the US makes the entire idea of harvesting renewables for power generation sound like child's play.

Thus, recent news from this part of the world tells us that, last week, the state managed to set back-to-back solar power generation records.

Specifically, it was on March 7 that solar installations across the state had a record output of 3,936 megawatts, Think Progress reports.

The day after, on March 8, they outdid themselves and coughed out an impressive 4,093 megawatts.

According to the state's Independent System Operator, this output was enough to meet the energy demand of as many as 3 million households.

Commenting on these back-to-back solar generation records, Steve Berberich with the California Independent System Operator stated as follows:

“This shows that California is making remarkable progress in not only getting new resources approved and connected to the grid, but making meaningful contributions in keeping the lights on as well.”

Furthermore, “The milestones illustrate that we are well into a new era when clean, renewable energy is shouldering its share of our electricity needs – and that is exciting.”

Just for the record, it must be said that, when compared to the year 2012, California's currently capacity is four times greater.

Besides, it would appear that, since said year, the state's solar industry has helped create over 3,500 job opportunities.
