14 DAY TRIAL // Two years after Kanye West’s mother, Donda, passed away during what was supposed to be a “routine” surgical procedure for beautification purposes, a new law has been passed in California bearing her name, meant to prevent further tragedies of this type, Radar Online has learned. The law was pushed by Yolanda, the daughter of Donda’s sister, and rapper Kanye is said to be “thankful” that it finally came to happen.
On Monday, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed The Donda West bill into law, Radar says, much to the delight of the West family, Yolanda reveals. This is more than just a personal victory, she says. It’s also a means of ensuring that other families won’t have to suffer the same because they put their lives in the hands of incompetent doctors, such as it was the case with Donda, who went to Jan Adams, a practitioner not accredited by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
“Kanye was very thankful about it. This was so perfect for him. He called me and was very excited about it. He appreciated it. There is comfort in knowing that her life wasn’t in vain. With the law in place it will give family members the knowledge that the extra step is in place. It will protect families against doctors like Jan Adams.” Yolanda tells Radar. She began to work on the law shortly after Donda’s death, but doesn’t plan to stop here with this victory.
“This measure will better protect our citizens from unnecessary bodily trauma that could result from elective cosmetic surgery procedures, if they are not physically fit to undergo surgery. It will help prevent other California families from going through the trauma and grief that the West family had to endure.” California Assembly member Wilmer Amina Carter also says in a statement to Radar, confirming the existence of The Donda West bill in California.
As noted above, Yolanda and the West family have no intention of stopping here. Donda’s niece is now working to have the law passed in Illinois and Oklahoma as well, while Kanye is reportedly thinking of having a similar law for New York.
