Calibre is one of the best eBook management software available right now, but its strength lies in the abundance of plug-ins available for it.

This week we’ll take a look at a very interesting plug-in called “EpubMerge”. According to the developer, it provides the ability to create new EPUBs by combining the contents of existing (non-DRM) EPUB format eBooks.

There aren't many tools capable of doing this, at least not in a way that will preserve the necessary quality.

Users need to take just a few steps in order to merge two EPUB documents. First, select the desired documents in Calibre, then set the order, edit the metadata for the new combined eBook, and merge the contents of the EPUBs together into the new eBook.

Users also have a couple configurable options: whether or not to insert a Table of Contents entry for each merged book (with it's original TOC nested underneath it), and an option to flatten the TOC down to one level only.

The plug-in can be easily installed from the preferences menu of the Calibre or from the official forums, and it needs version 0.8.30 or higher of Calibre.
