A new update has been released for Calibre

The Calibre eBook reader, editor, and library management application has been updated to version 2.23. The developer has made some minor improvements and Calibre now comes bundled with Qt 5.4.1.

Calibre is the most used application for converting or reading eBooks, but this is just a small part of what it can do. In fact, it's a massive application with hundreds of functions and they all need updates, fixes, or improvements. This is the main reason new versions popup every week or so.

Many of the changes made are actually suggestions from the community, but that shouldn't be surprising. It would be impossible for the developer to keep track of all the features implemented in the app, so the community plays an important role. Each time someone needs a specific function, all they have to do is ask and that function soon lands in Calibre.

Calibre 2.23 brings new features

Most of the Calibre releases are about bug fixes, but new functionalities are added from time to time. This is true for today's release. The application now allows users to add an empty ebook, in various formats, to existing book records, and the ability to create additional empty formats, to the 'Add empty book' command, has been implemented.

Also, according to the changelog, the Qt package that is bundled with the application, has been updated to version 5.4.1 (text rendering on Linux is improved), the links in MOBI files are working as they should, an important regression has been corrected, and the news sources have been updated.
