Kovid Goyal has had the great pleasure of announcing earlier today, June 5, the immediate availability for download of Calibre 2.30.0 open-source and cross-platform ebook library management software.

According to the attached changelog, Calibre 2.30.0 introduces a new option that allows users to automatically convert ebooks immediately after they have been added in the library, enabled from Preferences -> Adding Books.

The E-book Viewer component of Calibre has been improved to display the full text of truncated Table of Contents (ToC) in a pop-up menu when the users moves the mouse cursor over the respective item.

Additionally, Calibre 2.30.0 adds support for disabling verification of SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificates in individual recipes in the News downloader component of the software.

Multiple bugs have been plugged in this release

Of course, Calibre 2.30.0 also fixes some of the most annoying bugs that have been reported by users since the previous version of the application, Calibre 2.29.0. For example, two issues in the DOCX Output component have been patched, one related to the aspect ratio of images, and the other one related to extra page breaks.

Furthermore, the broken smarten punctuation in the LIT Input component has been patched to work for text-based LIT files instead of HTML-based ones, the Book details panel has been improved for Windows users, and the EPUB metadata extraction functionality works better for cover images from EPUB 3 and EPUB 2 files.

Last but not least, there's a fix for an the broken "Saved Searches" panel in the Edit Book component, as it was not working correctly with extra long search and replace expressions. Calibre 2.30.0 also adds a workaround for a Mac OS X bug that caused the application to display multiple "Email to selected recipients..." messages when the users attempted to change the preferences in the Connect/Share menu.
