A new release for Calibre ebook manager rolled out today, bringing the revision number to 0.9.44. The fresh build includes new features as well as several bug fixes.

Calibre 0.9.44 brings to the table tabbed view for virtual libraries; the tab bar becomes available above the book list. This adds to the functionality of the application as you can easily switch between virtual libraries and arrange their tabs.

Furthermore, there is the possibility to restore closed tabs, just like in the case of web browsers.

The cover trimming algorithm has been improved and it can automatically detect and remove borders and extra space at the margin of the image.

As far as repairs go, the fresh version of the ebook manager no longer cancels the conversion to PDF if the document has an HTML cover (broken EPUB files are the most likely candidates).

Also, when converting RTF files with no codepage, the input encoding setting is used instead. You can check the full list of changes on this page.
