Version 0.8.50 of the e-book reader and management software Calibre has been announced today, May 4th, with some important new features and fixes.

Calibre 0.8.50 comes with a lot of changes regarding the new file format from Amazon, KF8, and quite a few updates for other various output formats.

Highlights of Calibre 0.8.50:

• KF8 MOBI files can now be tweaked. This is useful in order to fine-tune the result of a conversion. Right click on the book and select Tweak Book to use the feature; • AZW3 output plugin. This output plugin generates pure KF8 mobi files, but it will only work on the Kindle Fire and Kindle Touch with the latest firmware; • Automatically add the Tag 'Sample Book' when an Amazon sample is added to Calibre; • Better handling of inline images for FB2 Input; • Section to section jumps not working for documents with multi-level ToCs have been fixed; • New sources updates.
