Google Maps is a service designed by Google that allows you to view satellite maps using a simple online solution. It enables you to zoom and observe detailed Earth elements without downloading or installing any application. As you probably know, Google Maps works as a standalone product, without the need of Google Earth, a downloadable solution also provided by the search giant that allows you to view images captured from the satellites.
Google is preparing another feature
for the Google Maps service that will allow you to view the distance between 2 points in the entire world with ease. Google Maps Distance Calculator is still in testing stages but it seems like the product works pretty well.
"You can use the Google Maps Distance Calculator to find out the distance between two or more points anywhere on the earth. In other words, the distance between A and B. Click once on the map to place the first marker and then click again to position the second marker. The distance between the points should then be displayed. You can also build up a series of locations to find a total distance," it is mentioned in the description of the service.
The service can be used with ease. All you need to do is to adjust your position on the map, find the location you want and then click on it. Then, you should go to the second location, your destination, and click again. The service should calculate the distance and will display it to you in miles or km. Although the solution is very well developed, you can't use it for accurate calculations because it shows you the distance for a straight line, so if you plan to calculate the km for your trip, you should get a real map.
