Calculate Linux 13 Beta 1 Features KDE 4.9.4 and GNOME 3.4

Calculate Linux, an optimized distribution designed for rapid deployment in corporate environment that's based on the Gentoo project and includes numerous pre-configured functions, is now at version 13 Beta 1.

Calculate Linux 13 Beta 1 comes in a lot of flavors and users will get to choose between Calculate Linux Desktop featuring either KDE (CLD), GNOME (CLDG) or XFCE (CLDX), Calculate Directory Server (CDS) for server solutions, Calculate Media Center (CMC) should you need any and, last but not least, scratch versions for those preferring minimal installations, Calculate Linux Scratch (CLS) and Calculate Scratch Server (CSS).

All these distributions share a few common changes. For example, meta-packages are no longer used to manage default dependencies, each CL edition is now featuring its own appearance theme, and the portage files will be unpacked when booting for the first time.

Highlights of Calculate Linux 13 Beta 1:

• Calculate Utilities were updated to version 3.1 Beta 2;
• New features added for Calculate Console, including configuring user sessions, changing user passwords, joining host to a Calculate Directory Server domain, and world update;
• New configuration events such as Portage update and package removal have been added;
• A new tool, calculate-update, has been added;
• More functionalities for the configuration template have been ypdated;
• KDE SC was updated to version 4.9.4;
• GNOME was updated to version 3.4;
• Elementary is now the default icon theme.
