Freshman series is pulled off the air after dismal ratings

CW has pulled the plug on yet another freshman series this season: “Cult” is officially off the air. Even worse, for those who watched it and loved it, the remaining episodes won’t air either.

Deadline confirms the network’s decision, pointing out that fans should have seen it coming since the announcement that it had been moved from Tuesdays to Fridays after the first 2 episodes scored a meager 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic.

Right now, network bosses are discussing the possibility of airing the remaining episodes, but chances are they’ll decide against it.

“Sources tell me that while the show will definitely not be back, there is discussion at the network if the remaining six episodes will end up being shown online,” Deadline writes.

“#Cult Sadly true. CW Execs once called the last 5 episodes ‘outstanding.’ I guess too outstanding. You are great, SMART fans. Thx to u all!” series creator Rockne O’Bannon says on Twitter.

Until April 19, instead of “Cult,” CW will air reruns of “The Carrie Diaries” and, as of that date, “Oh Sit!.”
