Fancy a Chromebook in your life, but you’re not impressed by the offerings coming from major tech brands like ASUS, HP, Samsung or Dell? Maybe you’d like to give a chance to this new model offered by CTL.

Like most Chromebooks, this device has been designed with the Educational market in mind, but if you’re a user with a passion for Chrome OS, you can pick it up as well, directly from the CTL Website. There are no restrictions imposed.

This Chromebook is one of the first to be based on Intel’s Chromebook design, and we can expect similar offerings to be rolled out in the wild by Toshiba, Lenovo and Dell soon enough.

Since Chromebooks are getting a lot of the action there days and in its keynote Google highlighted that all 10 top-selling laptops on Amazon are Chromebooks, Intel is looking to join in the success, too.

The CTL Chromebook comes with an 11.6-inch display and boasts a fanless design, which means the laptop should be quite silent.

The notebook arrives with a rugged design, so it will be able to survive being handled by the clumsy hands of students.

The laptop takes advantage of Intel’s Intel Celeron N2930 quad-core Bay Trail processor, which is fitted with 4GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

Like most laptops out there, the resolution is the same standard 1366 x 768 pixels, but since students won’t be using it for high-end tasks, this is OK. The list of specifications also adds 802.11 Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and 1MP camera which is rotatable.

In the connectivity department, we find an HDMI port, 1 USB 3.0, 1 USB 2.0 and SD card reader. The battery inside is of 3200 mAh capacity and according to CTL that should be enough to bestow up to 8 hours of life juice to the machine.

The laptop also comes with an extra baggage of feats to help students use the device at its full potential, including a carrying handle, a spill-proof keyboard and scratch-resistant keys.

The CTL Chromebook is quite affordable and sells for a viable $279 / €204.

Schools that would prefer skipping Chromebooks for some reason might look into the possibility of adopting Panasonic’s 2-in-1 device for Education, which is also based on an Intel reference design.

The machine offers the same resolution on a 10-inch IPS screen and takes advantage of the Intel Atom Z3740D quad-core processor fitted with only 2GB of RAM. However, the convertible sells for a heftier $499 / €365.
