It goes to show that 4K-capable television sets will sell a lot

You'd have thought that 4K resolution would meet the same fate as 3D displays, that of a fleeting wonder, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Indeed, sales are expected to rise quite a bit. UHD TVs have clearly outdone 3D TVs in the sales department already.

In fact, makers of LCD displays expect great things from the industry.

China Star Optoelectronics Technology (CSOT), for example, is a less known outfit (less known outside China anyway), yet expects to ship, all on its own, 100,000 Ultra HD TV panels in October 2013.

It will mass produce 49-inch panels while it meets orders for 32-inch, 55-inch and 110-inch ones.

CSOT will have to compete with LG Display and other strong brands involved in this field. It has such high hopes in spite of that, which can only suggest a high market strength.
