It will spare them the cost and laser exposure of X-rays

Normally, those studying medicine have to witness autopsies and surgeries, and lots of other potentially nauseating and harmful procedures, lie X-rays, but 3D printing is helping cut the need for such things, and costs to boot.

The Center for Research in Simulations and Education Technologies (CREST) is now using a Stratasys PolyJet and FDM printing materials to produce realistic anatomic models.

Fortus 3D Production System and the Objet Connex multi-material 3D printer actually make the organ models though.

The models won't replace actual surgical experience on patients, but they will definitely let aspiring doctors get some practice before they get to the really nerve-wracking operations.

Stratasys even provided CREST at University of Minnesota with a model simulation.

Check out the Fluoroscopic C-Arm and Stratasys 3D printed C-Arm Trainer that help make it all happen.
