CPUID released today an update for CPU-Z, the freebie that can gather various details about some of the main devices available on the system, such as the central processing unit, motherboard or RAM.

The new version is not packed with changes; on the contrary, it brings to the table a pretty small set of modifications, consisting mainly in support for new hardware devices. CPU-Z 1.61 integrates support for Intel CedarTrail platform, VIA VX11 chipset and Intel Xeon E5 processors.

Apart from this, the developer also improves the compatibility with Windows 8 by integrating a fix for showing the wrong CPU clock speed under Microsoft’s upcoming operating system.

The desktop version for CPU-Z can be downloaded from this page; the application is also available as a portable download.
