Yesterday, Angelina Jolie revealed, in a touching editorial in the New York Times, that she had a double mastectomy to lower her high chances of getting breast cancer. Her example is inspiring CNN anchor Zoraida Sambolin to do the same.

Speaking of Jolie’s brave announcement, Sambolin says that she too has been diagnosed with breast cancer about 3 weeks ago, as the video below will confirm.

She too will have a double mastectomy and is choosing to speak out to let women know that they do have options when faced with something like this.

Mastectomy might sound like the last thing they’d want, but they should know that reconstructive surgery is paid for by many insurance companies, she says.

Sambolin also talks about how she broke the news to her kids and how she spent days agonizing thinking of ways to do it.

Today, she is more optimistic than ever because she’s done her research and knows that this is one fight that she can – and will – win.
