He treated me “like the help,” Lemon says on TV after chance encounter

CNN anchor Don Lemon and actor Jonah Hill are the latest celebrities to take their personal feuds on Twitter and, from there on, on TV. It all started from a chance encounter in a hotel lobby when, Lemon says, Hill treated him “like the help.”

Oh No They Didn’t has a screencap of the things they said about and to each other on Twitter, with Lemon being the first to use the social networking website to vent.

“Said hi to @jonahhill in hotel. Think he thought I was bellman. Didn’t know his name til bellman told me. A lesson to always be kind,” the CNN anchor wrote.

Jonah saw the mention and immediately responded, trying to argue that he was not rude but rather than the CNN anchor was acting like a spoiled kid.

“I said hi what do you want me to do move in with you? I was in a hurry. Didn’t realize you were a 12 year old girl. Peace,” the actor responded.

Lemon replied to that that Hill was not his type (for the record, Lemon is openly gay), adding that he knew rude when he saw it – and that’s precisely what the actor was to him.

“I walked out of the restroom and found you waiting for me. Shook hands, said hi and was on my way. Sorry if you found that rude,” Hill wrote back.

While this could have easily ended here, the CNN anchor wouldn’t let it. A few hours later, on Starting Point with Soledad O’Brien (TMZ has video here), he argued that Hill treated him like “the help” because he mistook him for the bellman.

He said that he only wanted to let him know that he found him a hilarious actor (even though he didn’t remember his name) when Hill mistook him for an employee of the hotel.

Lemon cleared the misunderstanding, which is when Hill gave him a rushed and wet handshake and was off.

Somehow, that was too rude for him.

“Normally it doesn’t bother me, but I was done... because I’d been taught by mother to always be kind to people,” the television personality said.
