One of the protesters made a video during the attack against US Telecom

Massive distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks were launched by Anonymous hackers and their supporters against the sites of TechAmerica and US Telecom, two major US trade associations that represent the telecoms industry.

The main reason for the attacks is the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA), a recently proposed law that’s compared by many to SOPA and PIPA. Just as controversial, CISPA would give the US government more power and resources to protect its infrastructures against cyberattacks.

For now the new bill is vague, but many see it as another opportunity for the government to take a hit at piracy and a way to censor certain content.

One of the participants in the protest also launched a YouTube video that shows the attack against the site of US Telecom.

At press time, the site of US Telecom was working properly, but the one of TechAmerica was still down.
