The newest additions to the Canvio Basics and Connect II

Toshiba did a great job of releasing new products while being frustratingly uninformative at this year's Consumer Electronics Show. Kind of odd, really, considering how freely it distributes entire press kits even before trade shows actually start.

Which is to say, it released two products without actually releasing much information about said two products.

You may or may not be familiar with the Canvio Basics and Canvio Connect II series of storage devices. Both of them are composed of portable hard disk drives.

Toshiba's CES announcement consisted of the addition of 3 TB units to both lines. Previously, 2 TB was the top limit in both cases.

Hard to say what the transfer performance is, or any of the other parameters. Toshiba didn't see fit to release details beyond the capacity.

We can, at least, make an educated guess in regards to the price. Since internal, SATA HDDs of 3 TB cost on average $150 - $200 / €125 - €168, these new ones will probably require $20 - $50 / €17 - €42 more than that.

It's always the case for these things: portable, even larger external storage devices, cost more than normal versions. That USB 3.0 implementation and the actually good looking cases (in this case silver-colored) add a premium.
