We have been hearing more and more talk about 4K technology (remember Panasonic’s 4K tablet)? And CES 2014 is the perfect place for manufacturers to flaunt all their latest innovative designs, like 4K.

After pulling the veil off its first Chromebook ever, which offers a faster processor and a bigger screen than the HP Chromebook 11, but bears the same price tag, Toshiba has taken the opportunity to introduce some laptops. But not just any laptops.

Meet the world’s first 4K laptops, the Toshiba Tecra W50 and Satellite P50t (via Windows Blog). Both models are aimed at business users but, if they catch on, Toshiba will probably roll out a version for consumers as well.

The Tecra W50 is a notebook that aims to answer the needs of professionals working mostly with demanding graphics application. The product has been designed to provide both mobility and performance, for professionals on the go.

The Tecra W50 features a 15.6-inch 4K Ultra-HD display with an impressive resolution of 3840 x 2610 pixels and 282ppi.

To ensure the laptop works smoothly, Toshiba powers the Tecra with Intel’s latest 4th gen Haswell chip architecture and adds NVIDA Quadro K2100M with 2GB of dedicated memory (perfect for running apps like SolidWorks and AutoCAD).

The main difference between the Tecra and the Satellite P50t is that the latter is a touch-enabled 4K laptop. Moving on, the device features the same display size and resolution as the first model, but thanks to the touch capabilities, it provides a more complete Windows 8 experience.

On top of that, the 4K Ultra-HD screen on the Satellite P50t will bundle edge-to-edge glass that will provide amazing clarity, contrast and color.

The world’s first 4K laptops will become available for purchase starting mid-2014, but price specifications are still unknown at the moment. We’ll update you as more details surface.
