We reported a few days ago that Sony and Microsoft might team to bring customers the first Windows Phone handset offered by the Japanese company. Until then though, let’s see what goodies the handset maker plans to reveal in the Android smartphone market.

GSMArena reports that Chinese blog site Digi-Wo claims that Sony will officially unveil its first smartphone to pack a 5.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 2K (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution.

The handset is expected to be officially introduced at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2014, but take this info with a grain of salt.

Dubbed Sony Sirius, the smartphone is said to pack Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 805 chipset, along with 3GB of RAM and an impressive 20.7-megapixel rear-facing camera featuring Sony’s G Lens.

Obviously, the device will ship with Android 4.4 KitKat operating system out of the box and will be powered by a high-capacity 3500 mAh Li-Ion battery. Stay tuned for more updates on this one.
