14 DAY TRIAL // According to last year’s sales figures, the compact camera segment is in decline, and many of the most important players on the digital camera market have shifted their resources towards the more popular mirrorless segment.
Although everyone is aware of this trend, companies like Nikon, Sony, or Canon are not afraid to place a few bets on new compact and bridge digital cameras, and this year's CES announcements reveal just that.
While previously we presented Canon'a latest PowerShot cameras (N100, SX600, and ELPH 340) as well as Sony's new Cyber-shot W830 and W810, now it's time to take a look at Nikon's latest announcement that involves four new L-series cameras: L830, L330, L30, and L29.
The larger Nikon L830 comes with a 16MP backside illuminated CMOS sensor and is equipped with a 34x optical zoom NIKKOR lens that covers a wide focal range from 22.5mm to 765mm (35mm equivalent) f/3-5.9.
In addition to that, the camera features a 3-inch 921k-dot tilting TFT LCD monitor that allows you to shoot from any angle you want. The camera is also capable of capturing 1080i Full HD video footage at 60 frames per second with stereo sound an enhanced picture quality thanks to the integrated 5-axis vibration reduction function.
On the other hand, the L330 comes with a 20MP sensor and 26x optical zoom lens (22.5-585mm), 460k-dot 3-inch TFT LCD monitor, compact body and high-performance vibration reduction.
Last but not least, the L30 and L29 compact cameras feature a 5x optical zoom NIKKOR lens and are equipped with a 20.1MP (L30) and 16.1MP (L29) image sensor, respectively. Among other features we can also find 8 Glamour retouch options on the L30 as well as multiple filter effects for instant image enhancements on the L29.
All the aforementioned models are now available for pre-order at select retailers, at a price of $119 / €87 for the L30 and $299 / €220 for the L830 model. L330 and L29 prices are yet to be announced.
