There was a time when Kingston only made PC memory, but eventually it started to branch out, most notably into the fields of solid-state memory and, now, gaming peripherals.

Kingston has been getting ready to enter the gaming-grade peripheral industry for a while now, but it seemingly wanted a nice launching ramp.

And what better way to launch a new consumer product range than bringing it to the Consumer Electronics Show.

That's right, currently on show at the Kingston booth in Las Vegas, Nevada is a gaming headset, called Cloud.

Granted, it bears the same brand as Kingston's other popular product, namely the HyperX logo, but “Cloud” is its actual name.

Sadly, Kingston did not provide most of the technical specifications. Then again, it's not that shocking considering the ETA.

Although “Estimated Time of Arrival” might not be all that accurate, since an actual date has already been set for the retail availability: April 30, 2014. That's the release date posted on Newegg anyway.

Still, Kingston didn't withhold all information on the HyperX Cloud. It mentioned the aluminum construction, for example, which makes the object both light and flexible.

It also said that the headband was made of padded leather, and that the ear cups were interchangeable. Ears come in various sizes after all, so cups comfortable for one type of ear lobe aren't so for others.

The headphones also have 53 mm drivers and a microphone (that last one goes without saying at this stage).

To own a Kingston HyperX Cloud, you'll have to be willing to part with $99.99 / €99.99 once shipments begin. That said, there has been no indication that Kingston will release a version of the HyperX cloud colored anything other than black and red (all-black body with a red logo on the ear pieces).
