Since Samsung launched the now popular Galaxy Note series of smartphones, many handset makers are trying to bring similar large devices.

Dubbed “phablets,” these large devices have one thing in common and that’s the fact that they boast much bigger screens than the standard smartphones.

One such device is Hisense X1, which is currently showcased at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2014 trade fair.

As Liliputing points out, the Hisense X1 is much bigger than a “phablet,” but it is slightly smaller than a tablet. The smallest tablets available on the market come with 7-inch displays, while the Hisense X1 packs a 6.8-inch.

The Hisense X1 seems to be the first device that manages to blur the line between phablets and tablets. The Chinese handset maker that launched the device probably thinks it will be able to attract both phablet and tablet fans, but that remains to be seen as the smartphone is not yet available on the market.

According to Hisense, the X1 boasts a huge 6.8-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution. If you thought the X1 is all about the screen, then you’re wrong.

The handset comes equipped with a powerful quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.

The phone also packs a 13-megapixel main camera on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording. There’s also a secondary 5-megapixel camera in the front.

Give the very large screen, Hisense X1 is powered by a high-capacity 3900 mAh L-Ion battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.

It is also worth mentioning that the X1 will ship with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box. No word whether or not it will be upgraded to KitKat at some point. The bad news for those who wanted to try it out is that Hisense X1 will only be available at China Mobile carrier.
