Today at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Alcatel brought not only its new OneTouch Idol X+ smartphone, but also a gold flavor of the Alcatel OneTouch Idol Alpha, confirming plans to release the device in Europe before the end of this quarter.

The smartphone comes to the market with transparent top and bottom parts, with LEDs that will act as notifications (those at the top), or as lights for the three Android soft keys (those at the bottom).

Alcatel OneTouch Idol Alpha features a 4.7-inch 720p IPS display  with Dragon Trail Glass and oleophobic coating.

The smartphone is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor, a PowerVR SGX544 graphics processing unit, and 1GB of RAM. Furthermore, it sports a 3D aluminum frame, as Engadget notes.

The specifications list of the mobile phone also includes 16GB of internal memory, which can't be further expanded since Alcatel Idol Alpha lacks microSD card slot.

The Idol Alpha drains energy from a non-removable 2,000mAh battery, which is rated by the manufacturer for up to 20 hours of talk time or up to 720 hours of standby time.

Also, the usual set of connectivity capabilities are present too. Unfortunately, no specific info on the handset’s pricing has been provided as of now.
