Both smartphones will be available in the coming weeks

Alcatel revealed a handful of new smartphones at this year Consumer Electronics Show (CES) trade fair and confirmed some of its slightly older devices will be launched in North America soon.

According to Alcatel, the One Touch Idol X and Idol Mini smartphones will make their debut in Canada at Bell and Virgin Mobile carriers.

No word on pricing options yet, but the handset maker stated that both smartphones would be available for purchase “in the coming weeks” online at Bell and Virgin Mobile, as well as the carriers' brick and mortar stores, The Source locations and select retailers across Canada.

“This Canadian launch is a major step in ALCATEL ONETOUCH's continued growth in North America. We look forward to delivering on our promise to offer customers high quality smartphones at a great price,” said Steve Cistulli, senior vice president of North America for Alcatel One Touch.

One of the sleekest smartphones available on the market, Alcatel One Touch Idol X is only 6.9mm thin and was recently awarded the 2013 GOOD DESIGN Award.

Specs-wise, the smartphone boasts a vibrant 5-inch full HD (1080p) IPS capacitive touchscreen display featuring an edge-to-edge design for a better viewing experience.

On the inside, the One Touch Idol X is equipped with a 1.5 GHz quad-core Mediatek MT6589 processor, a PowerVR SXG544 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.

It is also worth mentioning that the device packs 16GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

Alcatel One Touch Idol X comes with an impressive 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as a secondary 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera.

The Idol Mini features a smaller 4.3-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 854 pixels resolution. It also sports a 5-megapixel main camera, VGA secondary camera for video calls and 4GB of internal memory.

The smartphone is powered by a 1.3GHz dual-core Mediatek MT6572 processor, which is complemented by a Mali-400 graphics processing unit and 512MB of RAM.

Both Alcatel One Touch smartphones will ship with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean Operating system out of the box.
