If you’re trying to make the most of Windows 8 but you think that a touchscreen computer is way too expensive, this is the right gadget for you.

Targus has used the 2013 CES to unveil the so-called Touch Pen, a simple device that converts absolutely any laptop or desktop computer into a touchscreen unit.

The Targus Touch Pen is made of two different components: a small receiver attached to the laptop screen and the stylus itself connected to a USB port via a regular cable.

The device can be used to swipe, zoom and open applications, just like you would normally do with your finger, so everything is pretty intuitive. You don’t have to be a computer guru to set it up, as it’s all plug-and-play: simply plug the device into an USB port, calibrate it and you’re ready to go. Screens of up to 17 inches are supported.

According to Targus, the Touch Pen will hit shelves this month and will be available via its official website, but also at other online retailers, including Best Buy and Amazon.
