ViewSonic is another vendor that brought new Android phones to the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

The company showcased its ViewPhone 3 dual-SIM handset at the event, and also confirmed a few details regarding its availability around the world.

Moreover, the ViewPhone 3 (V350) smartphone was spotted at the FCC with support for North American 3G connectivity as well, in the 850MHz spectrum.

Through this device, users will be able to keep their work and personal lives separate, with the use of two SIM cards at the same time.

“A dual-SIM phone, the ViewPhone 3 allows users to separate work and personal calls, providing more freedom and privacy across all networks, including GSM, EDGE and HSDPA,” the company notes.

The 3.5-inch HVGA display hides an 800MHz Qualcomm CPU beneath, along with 512MB of RAM for delivering increased performance capabilities.

The mobile phone will feature an affordable price tag when made available for purchase, and is meant for markets such as Latin America, Russia and other European countries.

“With a 3.5" capacitive touch display, the ViewPhone 3 is the first ViewSonic phone to arrive in Latin America – a perfect fit for users based on research from Informa, who found that about 27 percent of all mobile subscriptions in the region are classified as multiple subscription,” the company notes.

ViewSonic is directly addressing this market demand by enabling users to select the carrier and plan that best fits their individual use case.”

The specs list makes this handset an appealing option for users in emerging markets. ViewSonic has already launched similar handsets in Asia-Pacific, and is planning worldwide expansion.

The ViewPhone 3 is the very first smartphone the company has designed for the Latin American market. Based on Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, it features support for a variety of applications and services.

“The ARM 800Mhz processor and Android 2.3 operating system ensure the phone brings powerful functionality to consumers,” ViewSonic notes. The handset features a price tag of $279 (218 Euros) and is set to hit shelves towards the end of this quarter.
