Doesn't look any different than a regular Victorinox pocket knife

At this year’s CES fair, Victorinox, everyone’s favorite pocket-knife company, has come out with a rather interesting contraption that doubles as a high-speed eSATA/USB 3.0 solid state drive sporting up to 1TB of storage.

The ingenious device doesn’t seem any different than regular Victorinox pocked knifes, but don’t let its looks deceive you as inside there is a fully-fledged SSD drive which its maker says it can reach 220MB/s read and 150MB/s write transfer speeds.

Available in sizes starting at 64GB and going all the way to 1TB, the Victorinox SSD is touted as being the only such device in the world that connects to eSATA II/III and USB 2.0/3.0 with a single connector.

Furthermore, the SSD comes equipped with a 96x48 Bi-Stable monochrome display which is used to label the contents of the drive, while the hardware- and software-based 256-bit AES encryption is guaranteed to keep your data safe from prying eyes.

Outside of the 1TB SSD, Victorinox’ creation also includes the mandatory blade, scissors and nail file, but there’s also a secondary flight-sensitive case available in the retail package that removes these to get you past airport security.

"The Victorinox Swiss Army brand is synonymous with everyday "survival" tools and we continue to evolve our product offerings in the electronics division to provide solutions for living in a technology-focused world," said Andrea Huder, head of Electronics for Victorinox.

"The addition of the Victorinox SSD and Slim 3.0 to the flash USB line provides consumers with a quick and reliable way to store, transport and protect their personal and professional documents," concluded the company’s rep.

No world on pricing just yet, but we expect this Victorinox SSD to be anything but cheap when it arrives later this year.
