Unveiled last year at IFA 2011 trade fair, Samsung's Galaxy Tab 7.7 tablet has just been confirmed by Verizon Wireless. The carrier has yet to announce the slate's price tag and exact release date.

As the name suggests, the tablet sports a 7.7-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that boasts 800 x 1280 pixel resolution and 16 million colors support.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 is equipped with a powerful 1.4 GHz dual core processor, which is complemented by a Mali-400MP graphics processing unit.

It also packs 16GB on board memory, 1GB of RAM as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

The slate runs Google's Android 3.2 Honeycomb platform, but Samsung confirmed the Galaxy Tab 7.7 would receive an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade sometime this year.
