Looks like Sharp is trying to spread its reach as far as possible, having prepared more than 'just' an 80-inch display.

Since the 2012 edition of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2012) has finally kicked off, Sharp has begun officially unveiling its products.

Needless to say, there are quite a few things at its booth in Las Vegas, Nevada, not the least of which is the XV-Z30000 DLP 3D home theater projector.

In simple terms, this is a pricey but nonetheless powerful consumer electronics device for people whose homes have at least one wall free for image projection.

With 2x optical zoom, it can project images just fine, on wall or ceilings alike.

In fact, it comes with a V-stretch resize function (can set up the image in 2.35:1 aspect ratio) and a One Touch Play function to boot.

One Touch Play activates the projector automatically when the play button is pressed on whatever playback equipment the device is hooked up to.

That said, Sharp gave the projector a contrast ratio of 50,000:1 and a brightness of 1,600 ANSI lumens, ensuring a clear, high-quality image.

Finally, the XV-Z30000 can push the whole equipment into standby if it is turned off.

“No matter what the content, the XV-Z30000 offers consumers a compelling entertainment projection solution,” says Jim Sanduski, vice president, strategic product marketing, Sharp Electronics Marketing Company of America, a division of Sharp Electronics Corporation.

“With a focus on providing consumers with superior entertainment experiences, this front projector is ideal for the dedicated home theater or viewing room and is a welcome addition to any home entertainment experience.”

Sharp intends to begin shipping the XV-30000 home theater projector at some point in March, 2012.

Of course, not everyone will be able to get it, since the price of $4,999.99 (3,904 Euro, give or take) is anything but accessible.
