This is the first day of the International Consumer Electronics Show and most carriers already announced their upcoming devices. Shortly after Sprint unveiled its Galaxy Nexus and LG Viper LTE-enabled smartphone, AT&T took the stage and unveiled no less than six LTE-compatible devices.

Samsung Galaxy Note is one of the long-awaited LTE-enabled smartphones that has just been officially revealed by AT&T. Unlike the European version, the AT&T Galaxy Note comes with four-touch sensitive keys instead of a big button.

In addition, the back cover of the North American variant features a textured pattern instead of the smooth cover of the other model.

The gigantic “phablet” comes with a huge 5.3-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that boasts 800 x 1280 pixels resolution and 16 million colors support.

Although the phone is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, Samsung already confirmed plans to upgrade the Galaxy Note to Ice Cream Sandwich in Q1 2012.

Aside from the big display, Samsung Galaxy Note comes with a powerful 1.5 Ghz dual core processor, which is complemented by an Adreno 220 graphics processing unit.

On the inside, the phone packs 16GB of onboard memory, 1GB of RAM, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion.

Samsung Galaxy Note comes with S Pen, Samsung’s proprietary pen input technology, which allows users to sketch drawings, take notes, or write emails and texts quickly and easily “in free-form handwriting.”

The carrier has yet to announce the Galaxy Note pricing options and exact release date. According to AT&T, the smartphone is expected to arrive in stores “in the coming weeks.”

Delivering a first-class mobile broadband experience to our customers is at the forefront of everything we do. To achieve this, we’re bringing together the industry’s best 4G smartphone portfolio, a blazing fast LTE 4G network, and innovative applications that stem from our collaborative relationship with the developer community,” said Ralph de la Vega, president and CEO, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets.
